This turkey breed was developed in the early 1960s by Hugh Arnold who, at the time, was both Breeding Director of British United Turkeys Ltd. and the company’s Managing Director. The B.U.T. T5 was the UK turkey industry standard for more than a decade, and was succeeded by the B.U.T. 8, which was made up genetically from the lines that contributed to the B.U.T. T5, as well as from new lines. The component lines of the B.U.T. T5 reverted to the gene pool and have been pedigree-bred ever since, with each of the lines involved being older than 50 years (generations). Today the B.U.T. T5 produces a well conformed turkey, with excellent yields at the same time retaining exceptional welfare characteristics. At 16 weeks of age, the female will produce a high-quality 7kg+ oven-ready carcass. At 20 weeks of age, the male is capable of producing a quality 14kg+ oven-ready carcass, with the opportunity to grow on economically to oven-ready weights of 16kg+ by 24 weeks of age.

Day-old quantity discounts: 1000 – 2000 – List less £10.00, 2001– 3000 – List less £20.00, 3001 – 4000 – List less £30.00, 4001 plus: quotation on application. A/H poults can be sexed for £15.00 per 100. Deliveries up to 200 add £145 +VAT. Deliveries 201 to 500 add £130 +VAT.
Payment prior to delivery for new customers and as per agreed terms for existing customers. Day old quantities delivered will include an extra 2% FOC. Every effort will be made to supply orders in the weeks required – but, due to logistical problems they may vary by a week either way.
Grower Turkeys all breeds supplied Available throughout the season JULY to AUGUST. Supplied at 4-5 weeks old, selected before dispatch, all strong well grown poults. Supplied off heat.
